A Few Words About Emma Geier

My Story

I deliberated on where to start; music, writing, etc. But I suppose the natural start to any story is the beginning. I grew up in a small town in the foothills of the Olympic Mountains in Washington State.

My childhood was a happy one and I owe a lot of who I am to those years I spent finding adventures and friends within the twenty acres of woods that surrounded our family home. It was peaceful; a peace I would one day lose, and then become reacquainted with in a new way later in life.

Music has always been a part of my story; from Bonnie Raitt’s Something to Talk About played in our kitchen, mom with broom in hand; or the unique time signatures found in Acoustic Alchemy’s work, carrying over the car speakers by my dad during his forty five minute commute to work.

Were I to try and separate my joy in life from music, it would be impossible, as most of my notable memories are tied to it in one way or another.

Music fast became a refuge for me; first as a listener and then later as a creator. I believe we all have the power to create incredible things and that each of us benefits from the love and vulnerability shared by those willing to set foot on the metaphorical stage.

With this in mind, I hope you enjoy what you find here. I hope it reaches a part of you that you forgot existed. I hope it inspires the child inside to once again come out and make things. If not, that’s okay. I’ll keep creating anyway.

“Slow down, you crazy child. Take the phone off the hook and disappear for awhile. It’s all right, you can afford to lose a day or two. When will you realize, Vienna waits for you?”

Opening the door

My parents taught us to open the door for people. There’s often a beautiful exchange between the door opener and the door openee (if that’s a word). A thank you, a nod. Pleasantries are exchanged. Smiles are shared. Perhaps a laugh or two fills the air: Gratitude, connection, friendship. Strangers aren’t strangers anymore. What an idea, that we can change the world one door at a time.

Inspirations

Bonnie Raitt taught me how to share what you’re feeling with your audience vocally. She doesn’t just sing, she shares. Lori McKenna writes songs that deeply resonate, like Humble and Kind and Crowded Table, touching on topics close to me. These songs inspire, not just entertain. Keith Urban taught me sometimes you don’t feel like showing up. Show up anyways. That’s part of the calling. It’s not about you.

When I won the Bluebird Golden Pick contest in February of 2025, the sky became the limit. If I could play on the Bluebird stage; where names like Garth Brooks, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Dolly Parton, have played; what else could I do? What could you do? What could we create?
